Quick Picks
Ebba Forsberg
I
came across Ebba Forsberg by kind of a fluke. I was getting rid of some old CD
singles, and noticed "Hold Me." I decided to give it a listen and
liked her sound. Been There is one of the few CDs I own that I can listen
to straight through. With a playing time of 40 minutes, it's over before you
know it.
Ebba's mature and gritty vocals is reminiscent of veterans such as Phoebe Snow
or Carole King. She's not afraid to reveal the trials she's been through, as
much of the album is an account of her earlier days without a place to call
home. (By age 12, she had lived in Sweden--her birthplace, the West Indies, and
South Africa.)
Ebba's second album, True Love, was released in Europe only, but can be
downloaded in the United States from emusic.com.
Her newest self-titled album, was released in Sweden in 2006 and is for sale at
cdbaby.com.
