Yuna from her I Wanna Go music video.
Singer/songwriter Yuna stopped by Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, CA last night in support of her new EP, Sixth Street.
The forty-five minute set consisted of songs both old and new. She opened up with “Lullabies” and mixed in the show were songs from the EP such as “I Wanna Go” and “Musician.” The concert closed with the Pharrell Williams produced hit, “Live Your Life.”
As an added bonus to seeing the Malaysian artist live, the large crowd was treated to a performance with her full band, who flew in from Malaysia for the show.
Malaysian singer-songwriter Yuna performed an acoustic set at Amoeba Music in Hollywood, CA last night. Admitting that she didn’t think anyone would show up, she must have been excited at the turnout of fans, a large number of which had obviously been fans from the very beginning of her career. Aside from showcasing songs from her album, she also performed a cover of Nirvana’s “Come As You Are.”
Already a huge success in her homeland, Yuna is on course to duplicate that feat in the United States. Her self-titled album is an absolute treat. The debut single is “Live Your Life”, a mellow groove produced by Pharrell Williams. It’s not often that a debut single is buried underneath 11 other songs, but that’s a testament to how strong the CD is top to bottom. It’s an album you can listen to from start to finish. The CD kicks off with “Lullabies,” a track reminiscent of Massive Attack’s “Teardrop” and flows into other standouts such as “Favourite Thing,” “Planes,” “Island,” and “See You Go.”
Yuna is currently one of Amazon.com’s “Artists on the Rise” and until the end of this month you can download “Live Your Life” for FREE by clicking here. But don’t stop there…buy the whole album. It will be one of the best music purchases you’ve made all year. For the latest info on Yuna, visit yunamusic.com and her Facebook page.
